We will be cancelling both our 3/16 Mix and Mingle and our 3/21 play event. We're giving full refunds to all ticket holders and hope to see you at future events when all this chaos is over. For now, we don't have a future event date booked, we want to be sure of everyone's safety before we come back. One of the pillars of sex positivity is safety. We care more about the health of all of our VIP members than we do about one party. You're all the reason we do what we do and it would have devastated us if we were the cause of even one person contracting this illness. ⛓
WHAT WE HOPE FOR YOU: ⛓
We hope you're taking care of yourselves. If you have the option to work from home now is the time to exercise that privilege. Avoid using public transportation (including Uber) whenever possible. Take time to exercise by walking or riding a bike whenever possible if you must travel. We hope you're washing your hands billions of times every single day. Use this terrible circumstance we've found the world in to implement this practice in your life for years to come. Finally, we hope you stay engaged with your community, here and wherever else you find a sense of home. This has the potential to be a very isolating time for all of us and we're here for you at all times. Just reach out and we're happy to be there to make it all a little less scary. ⛓

We bring together some of the best folks in New York (and DC, Connecticut, and Philly) for a little get to know ya evening. We know many VIP members that have met partners, play partners, and platonic partners at these events...we wish the same for you.

In the world of open relationships, relationship anarchy, polyamory, or however you define your ethical non-monogamy...it's essential for any kind of relationship health. 🩹 This means partners, play partners, hook ups, etc. At Playscapes, we've explored tons of relationship tactics. Our favorite experience at our parties thus far was an orgy that began by everyone sitting in a circle and describing their boundaries and intentions. 👯‍♀️👯👯‍♂️ Then we took turns touching one person at a time in the circle before progressing play, asking every step of the way. 🗣 This is just one example of how you can up your ethical play party game! What was most heartwarming is at the next party we saw a circle of VIPs exercising this method for themselves. 🥰⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Other ways to practice consent communication include asking before you touch/hug/engage with someone at an event (play or non-play). 🤗 It's important to remember you always ask prior to making any kind of advancement. Don't grab someone's hand and after ask, "Is this okay?" Use direct statements at all times: "Is it okay if I hold your hand?" 🤝 This gives everyone the opportunity to advocate for themselves in the moment and keeps us all at the same ethical standard. ✨⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Outside of parties communication is crucial as well. When we hit an "ouch" in our relationship we like to write a well thought out letter to the other that we'll read out loud at a later discussion. 📄 We send it prior to the discussion to allow time to think deliberately about a response and in many cases we write a letter of our own. ✏️ Sometimes this process takes 15 minutes. Other times, this can mean hours of hard work and dedication. ⏱ It's this time that re-solidifies our bond and brings us back to the foundation we need to be healthy partners for other people. 💋⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
